On the Road Again to #Woofstock

Leaving 1 of our clan behind for Dartmouth junior regatta sailing while we truck off to #Woofstock this Saturday 22nd August in Marnhull Dorset. Today we start to pack! We would never have managed without the help of the Woofstocker Crew who my sheer coincidence live very near & have taken all the big stuff for us. The alternative was to strap Kitty & the dog on the roof of the van!

946 – Kneehigh Theatre at the Asylum

After watching Michael Morpurgo at the Flavel Dartmouth (above) we were inspired to go & see a play in Cornwall based on the book. Never having seen this Theatre company before we are now not only big Michael Morpurgo fans but now can not wait for the next Kneehigh production which we may be able to watch. This year’s Kneehigh production is again in their wonderful theatre tent called the Asylum pitched in the fields alongside the Lost Gardens of Heligan.  The whole production oozes creativity on every level.  Mind boggling stagecraft skills, sets and their own brand of infectious musical accompaniment.
946 is and adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s book, ‘The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips’. It is set in Slapton Sands in 1944 and details the evacuation of Devon villagers from their homes to enable American soldiers to practise for the D Day landings. They use puppetry and a small team of talented, versatile and musical actors to tell a tale of war, prejudice and love, finally revealing the secrets that the US and British governments tried to keep quiet.

Kneehigh’s next production is an adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier’s Rebecca, which will be performed at Hall for Cornwall, Truro 9- 19 September 2015 before going on tour around the UK.
